Initially rolled out in 2006, it got better for the following year. Like all new vehicles, manufacturers tend to do things better after an initial roll out of a new vehicle, between listening to the consumers complaints/desires and their engineers.
Starting in the rear cargo area, you’ll find a switch that will make you think you have the beginnings of a “low rider” once you hit it- the rear end lowers or raises up to 3″- to accommodate you loading or unloading your cargo. Individual climate controls for the front and rear passengers is a nice touch, combined with front heated seating; the only drawback to the heated seating is it’ll warm your bottom only, and not your back as well. The front cockpit area is nicely styled with easy to reach controls and easy to see (optional) back up camera system and navigation system. At night, they are all easy to see with a soft blend of red and blue to help protect your night vision.
Power plants come in 2 flavors, a 3.6L V6 at 280HP or a hefty 4.2L V8 pumping out 350HP. All models come with the 6-speed Tiptronic transmission. The wheels are a nice variety, most models will come with a variation of 5 or 7 spoke 18″ aluminum wheels, the fully loaded 4.2L Premium Quattro will come with 19″ 7-spoke aluminum wheels.
