Running through October 19th, the Texas State Fair in a great reason to visit Dallas and enjoy some of the best things the Lone Star state has to offer. The Texas State Fair will be held at Fair Park in Dallas and will feature a 212-foot Ferris wheel, parades, and tons of great fried fair food, but perhaps the best part of the event is the Texas State Fair Auto show.
“The State Fair is a great way to spend an afternoon, especially for those of us who love cars,” says Ron Sturgeon, owner of a Dallas exotic car rental company. “The auto show is 300,000 square feet of car lovers’ paradise,” says the Dallas small business consultant. The new 2009 Camaro and the Corvette ZR1 will be displayed at this year’s Texas Fair Auto Show.
The State Fair of Texas Auto Show runs from Friday, September 26 through Sunday, October 19. It includes two buildings devoted to cars and trucks, as well as an outdoor truck area. The Auto Show started in 1904 and has been getting bigger and better ever since.
“I enjoy seeing the new sports cars,” says Sturgeon, who also owns a car sharing club devoted to these elite vehicles in DFW.
The State Fair of Texas Auto Show attracts a nearly equal number of men and women. According to statistics about the auto show published on the State Fair’s website, 49% of auto show attendees are male and 51% are female.
“The closeness in attendance numbers doesn’t surprise me. Couples make car buying decisions together in many cases, so it makes sense for both to attend,” says the Dallas-Fort Worth entrepreneur.
“Driving and enjoying sports cars also appeals to both genders,” says Sturgeon. “Many of our best customers for Aston Martin or Bentley rentals in Dallas are women who want to do something special for an anniversary or share an experience of driving a luxury car with their husbands or boyfriends,” insists Mr. Sturgeon.
Some of the companies exhibiting at this year’s auto show include General Motors, Dodge, Jeep, and Ford in the Automobile Building and Chrysler, Saab, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and many others in the Centennial Auto Building. The Truck Zone will feature vehicles from Chevrolet, GMC, Dodge, Nissan, Ford, and Toyota.
New vehicles are not the only thing to see at the Auto Show. The lawn behind the Museum of Nature and Science will feature 1,000 classic and antique vehicles.
