If one were looking, they might find the irony in the Houston Boat Show. After all, it is a larger than life (this is Texas), bright and shiny attraction meant to bring in large crowds. Similar to the fishing lures no doubt utilized by many of the patrons in their fishing endeavors. But, then again, I could be way over thinking this.
In any event, the Houston Boat Show is a huge celebration of all things boating. Additionally, there are many sport and travel related showings as well. For example, many RVs and RV accessories will be on display for the travel conscious. But don’t get me wrong, the main attraction of the Houston Boat Show is just that, boats.Â
Specifically, about 1,000 boats ranging from speed boats to yachts will be on display. That’s a lot of boats. There will also be demonstrations about boating, travel, fishing, and many other topics for those so inclined.Â
Prospective attendees have little excuse for no-showing as this year’s show runs from January 4 through January 13 and will be held in Houston’s Reliant Center. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for students (with ID), and free for children under the age of 5.Â
Without question, many of the Houston Boat Show’s attendees will be mesmerized by the luxurious yachts that they see, but few will have the means to ever purchase such a craft. A similar result often occurs when folks go out to their local auto shows. They spend hours lusting after the exotic cars on display fully aware of the fact that they may never be able to afford something like a Ferrari F430 F1.Â
Well, at least for car fans there is a way to get drive time with such exotic cars without outright owning one (or stealing your rich friend’s car). Car aficionados have known about exotic car clubs for years. www.exoticcarclubs.com provides a list of exotic car clubs around the country. Texans can rest assured that DFW Elite Car Club (www.dfwelitecarclub.com) is available right in their own state. This exotic car club owned and operated by fellow Texan Ron Sturgeon allows members to customize their own exotic car usage based on their budget and how much access time they desire. Additionally, the large selection of exotic cars allows members to enjoy many different types of hard-to-find cars without dealing with the vagaries of ownership.Â
Texans that are looking for the perfect car for that special occasion can log onto www.dfweliteautorental.com. Also owned and operated by Sturgeon, DFW Elite Auto Rental allows short-term rentals of everything from exotic trucks to luxury sedans. Best of all, these exotic cars can be rented in Dallas, Ft. Worth, Austin, Houston, or San Antonio right over the internet. Don’t forget to check out their weekly internet car rental specials.Â
Finally, what car fan wouldn’t relish the chance to drive several exotic cars on a scenic route? DFW Drive Your Dream (www.dfwdriveyourdream.com) makes this dream a reality for Texans. Offering routes throughout Texas that feature lake views and Hill Country curves, www.dfwdriveyourdream.com allows car fans to choose from several different five-car packages. Check out this video from a recent fantasy car driving tour at http://youtube.com/watch?v=wtyQq0zZl5Q.
