A hire car firm driver faces jail after he became Britain’s fastest speeder by reaching an astonishing 172mph in a brand-new Porsche 911.

Timothy Brady took the £93,000 sports roadster for a spin from the company where he worked as a courtesy car driver, and was spotted by traffic police driving at nearly three miles a minute.
When caught by officers the 33-year-old was travelling at more than 100mph above the national speed limit.
In 2000, Daniel Nicks, then 34, became Britain’s fastest convicted speeder ever after being caught travelling at 175mph on a Honda Fireblade motorbike in Hertfordshire
