Having not been to the UK in many years, I guess I did not realize how well Ford does in that market. They actually outsell GM.
Although Ford has lost a staggering amount of money last year and in the first quarter of this year, they are still treading lightly in selling off Land Rover and Jaguar because of a possible backlash in the UK market.
AP Auto writer Tom Krisher has an excellent article on the delicate moves that Ford is making in soliciting bids for the two British luxury car brands.
Although I’ve never been impressed with Jaguar, I’ve always wanted to drive a Land Rover. Although it’s the beginning of the story as far as the sale goes, I hope Ford will find a buyer that can profitably continue a great tradition at Land Rover.
