This was posted at Motor Trend. I had never heard of Art Fitzpatrick, but the author of the post tells his story very well and shows some of his amazing art.
Art Fitzpatrick and his business partner, Van Kaufman, created the advertising images for Pontiac between 1959-1971.
Art did the cars and his partner created the backgrounds.

As an added bit of trivia, Art was a car designer in his youth and actually had one of the car’s he designed appear at the recent Pebble Beach Concours.
The car was the 1940 Packard 180 Sport Sedan owned by Mike Ames of Arlington, TX. According to the post, Art designed this classic car at the tender age of 19!
