Esquire magazine just named actress Charlize Theron the “Sexiest Woman Alive.â€Â Well, that settles that. “She combines unbelievable beauty with a smart mind and this attitude like she’s almost one of the guys — like you could hang out and have a beer with — and all of that adds up to sexy,” said Esquire articles editor Ryan D’Agostino. Before all you guys start clamoring for the likes of Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, or Jessica Biel, it should be noted that they are all distinguished alumni of this rare distinction.Â
The foreign-born beauty was born in 1975 in Benoni, South Africa. Even at her young age she has received a great deal of attention for gravitating towards difficult roles that do not exactly show her in the best light. For example, in Monster, she played a murderous prostitute, and not in the sexy, high-heeled way. This gamble obviously paid off as Theron received an Oscar for her role.Â
Unfortunately, Theron’s real life experience has been as dark as some of her roles. In 1991 she witnessed her mother fatally shooting her father as he attacked her and Charlize in a drunken rage.Â
This contest is in keeping with Esquire’s main mission to show man at his best. Another recent offering from the magazine is its top 20 restaurants feature. No doubt this is intended to help uninformed males from trying to impress our dates at McDonald’s. This year’s recipient of “restaurant of the year†was Dallas-based Fearings, a bistro in the Ritz Carlton Hotel.Â
If Esquire sticks around Texas long enough, they may just stumble upon another gold mine for men. Although a distant second to women, men love cars. But as is the case with women, men seem most attracted to the ones that seem least attainable. Let’s face it guys, we really love the car that is possibly out of reach from a price or practicality standpoint. Enter Ron Sturgeon.
Sturgeon has developed an idea for a car club that allows its members to experience driving some of the most exotic and luxurious automobiles in the world. Car clubs aren’t new, but Sturgeon has put his own spin on the idea by offering levels of membership rather than fractional ownership. For a fixed monthly fee, members receive an allotment of points that work like currency for reserving cars like the Ferrari F430, Bentley GTC, and Aston Martin V-8 Vantage Convertible. Members are free to date the cars without marrying them. You can take a peak at a few of the vehicles in DFW Elite Auto Club’s collection in this exotic car video.
For the automotive minded, it might still rank below an evening with the sexiest woman alive, but still it’s darn appealing and a lot more attainable.
