This year’s Grammy award winners included Amy Winehouse, who took home five awards, Kanye West, who picked up four trophies, and Chevrolet, who cornered the market on transportation for the event.  Chevrolet provided fuel-efficient elite transportation for the awards and came away from the event a winner.”This is an unprecedented venture for an automotive manufacturer to provide a fleet of so many ‘fuel-friendly’ vehicles at a major awards show,”

Jay Flaherty, regional divisional marketing manager for Chevrolet in GM’s Western Region, told Reuters.  “We’re delighted to celebrate our partnership with the 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards by providing fuel-friendly transportation for the music industry’s hottest talent.”  Those interested in learning more about the flex fuel E85 SUVs provided to the Grammy Awards by Chevy can check out an excellent article on them by the how stuff works folks.

Although most of us cannot afford to own the type of cars that many celebrities drive, it is still possible to drive an A-List adrenaline-pumping exotic car on weekends.  There are several options for driving your dream car.  One popular choice is renting an exotic car in Dallas, TX from DFW Elite Auto Rental. How about a Dodge Viper Convertible rental in Savannah, GA courtesy of Shane Atwood and the fine folks at Precious Metals Car Rental?

Another option is participating in a dream tour, like those offered by DFW Drive Your Dream.  Participants can drive five amazing cars in a single day. There’s no better way to compare the best from Ferrari, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin than by taking them out on the open roads of Texas Hill Country.

A third choice is becoming a member of a car sharing club, like DFW Elite Car Club, where members have access to a dream garage of amazing cars without the hassles of maintenance or the costs of depreciation. To find a luxury car sharing club near you, consult an online directory such as http://www.exoticcarclubs.com/.

Amy Winehouse, who picked up honors for Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Performance, did not attend the performance in person.  According to Entertainment Weekly, “In her acceptance speech for Record of the Year, an ecstatic Winehouse thanked, among others, her label, her parents, and ”my Blake, incarcerated” (referring to her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil); she dedicated the award to London, as the crowd cheered.”

Entertainment Weekly also described the emotional evening for Kanye West:  “West, who went into the night with the most nominations (eight), picked up four trophies: Best Rap Solo Performance (for ”Stronger”), Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group (”Southside,” with Common), Best Rap Song (for ”Good Life”), and Best Rap Album (for Graduation). After ripping through his hit ”Stronger” with Daft Punk, the rapper paid tribute to his late mother, Donda, with an emotional performance of ”Hey Mama.” According the entertainment weekly, “He again recognized her in his acceptance speech for Best Rap Album, and admonished the band for attempting to play him off.”

Along with the awards given to Winehouse and West, Chevrolet came away with a valuable prize.  The automaker placed its products in the hands of the artists who influence the tastes and brand preferences of their listeners. We will have to see if that pays dividends as the Chevrolet begins to bring its eco-friendly cars to showrooms in the coming years.
