Dallas Cowboys Fans Get Creative About Watching Thursday Night’s Game
In Thursday’s highly-anticipated game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys were not the only winners. As Dallas defeated Green Bay 37 – 27, area bars and restaurants raked in the big bucks as fans gathered to watch the game. The full bars were due to the decision by the NFL Network to exclusively carry the game. Since only about a third of Texas residents have access to the network, that meant fans had to get creative about their viewing.
Some fans chose to forgo watching the game and instead listened to it on the radio. The ultimate experience was driving an elite sports car and listening to the game on stations like KTCK 1310 AM or 104.1 FM. Members of car clubs such as DFW Elite Car Club could chose one over 40 amazing cars in the DFW Elite Car Club garage. A great way to celebrate the Dallas Cowboys’ win is to take part in a dream tour from DFW Drive Your Dream. Dream tour participants can drive several elite automobiles in a single day. It will get you nearly as many looks from the ladies as being a starter on the Dallas Cowboys!
For those who chose to watch the game on TV, the NFL Network was the only option. According the Dallas Morning News, “NFL Network executives, including chairman and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, tout the channel as an opportunity to offer more games to fans. Cable providers contend that the cost of adding the channel would have to be passed along to all subscribers – whether they wanted more football or not.â€
The article goes on to describe the plight of fans like Corpus Christi’s Richard Ramirez, who “…called all over town to find a place that would televise the Dallas Green Bay game. I get off work at 5:30 so I’m going to try to be there by 6. I’m going to call and see if I can make a reservation,†Ramirez said yesterday. “It’s frustrating because you can’t watch the game at home. How Jerry Jones got involved with this, I don’t know, but it’s hurting a lot of Texans.â€
Texans weren’t the only ones hurt by the decision to broadcast the game only on the NFL Network. Packers fans were also unhappy. According to The Beaumont Enterprise, even “…Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle voiced his displeasure about not being able to watch the Packers in the state capital.â€
