With the dollar so weak against competing currencies, even the nearly worthless stuff the Canadians pass off as money buys a lot more luxury car on this side of the border than it did even a few months ago.
One enterprising Canadian named Rebecca Shevenius made the trip to buy a Mercedes M350 luxury SUV and saved about $13,000.
Because the car was manufactured in the North America, no duties need be paid when it crosses the border northward.
There are a few wrinkles to importing a car into Canada, and Shevenius plans to publish an 18 page guidebook on the finer points of cross border luxury car buying according to a fine article by Brennan Clarke of the Victoria British Columbia News.
The same weak dollar the compels Canadians across the border to buy a car should entice them a bit further south for a holiday. That favorable rate of exchange means there are some great bargains on exotic car rentals in Dallas.
Tell me that Rebecca wouldn’t love a ride in a brand new Glacier White Bentley Continental GTC rental.
