Britney Spears’ Age: Actual vs. Apparent

Britney Spears will turn 26 this December, but according to People Magazine, the singer may still have a lot of growing up to do.  In her very public battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline for custody of their two children, Spears has unintentionally revealed a new side of herself to the public.  The most recent development in the custody battle is the allegation from Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, that Spears “did not respond in a timely manner to eight of 14 random drug test requests.” 

The pop star, who recently purchased a two-seater Mercedes SL65 AMG, may have accepted the likelihood that she will not receive custody of the couple’s two boys.  The $188,000 604-horsepower Mercedes SL65 AMG is the ultimate elite sports car, but it certainly isn’t a family automobile.  Nevertheless, car enthusiasts, like the members of DFW Elite Car Club, are impressed with the car, even if they may not be impressed by Spears’ antics.

People Magazine gave both sides of the story, explaining that “…Spears’s lawyer, Anne Kiley, called the current drug testing procedure ‘unconstitutional,’ adding that just because the singer may fail to respond to testing calls within one hour doesn’t mean she’s using drugs. Kiley stated that Spears tested clean on 10 occasions.”

Spears must submit to twice-weekly random drug tests, and the testing facility is required to call three times within an hour.  If the facility is unable to reach Spears, the test will be considered failed. 

“Just because Ms. Spears is unable to return a call within one hour doesn’t reflect what kind of mother she is,” Kiley explained to reporters. “It’s a nonsensical procedure. She could be in a movie or traveling. What matters is that she provides a sample within six hours and that she tests negative.”
