Today is National Boss’ Day, the day we celebrate good and fair bosses. According to the Bloomington Pantagraph, the origin of National Boss’ Day is found in the 1950s:Â
“Thank State Farm Insurance Cos. Or blame them. Boss Day became an official holiday in 1958 when Patricia Bays Haroski, working for her father at State Farm in Deerfield, registered the day with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Her father’s birthday was Oct. 16, and she wanted to honor him.â€
Now, 49 years later, Hallmark offers almost 90 different cards for National Boss’ Day, and the holiday is celebrated around the country. But what if your boss is really exceptional? What if a card just won’t show your appreciation? Here are some other fun ways to celebrate National Boss Day with the head honcho in your office.
Let your boss drive his or her dream. Have everyone in your office chip in to give your boss an elite sports car tour. These tours, offered by DFW Drive Your Dream, give your boss the fabulous opportunity to drive several amazing sports cars in a single day. He’s sure to come back from his tour refreshed and energized.
Have flowers delivered to your boss’ desk. A simple but effective way to show your appreciation for a great boss is to send flowers. Why not send a rose for every employee in your office or a daisy for every year your boss has worked for the company? A huge bouquet of flowers on your boss’ desk is a surefire way to make a good impression.
Take your boss to lunch in an elite sports car. There are elite sports car rental businesses in many metropolitan areas of the country. These businesses, such as Champion Exotic Car Rental in Philadelphia, Bling Bling Exotic Car Rental in Miami, and DFW Elite Auto Rental in the Dallas – Fort Worth area, offer amazing cars for rent. When you take your boss to lunch in a Bentley, you know you will have made his or her day.
Give your boss a beautiful fountain pen. Like elite sports cars, pens can be functional collector’s items. Brands like Parker and Waterman have been around for years and offer many quality writing implements that really show your appreciation. Be sure to include ink or ink cartridges in your gift so your boss can begin using his gift right away.
