In this article Bentley is talking some changes for their creme of the crop Arnage and the Flying Spur.
“Sales of Bentley’s lowest-priced models such as the Continental GT, Flying Spur and the GTC Convertible are still going strong. The Bentley Continental GT Coupe has allowed Bentley to have most of the sales of ultra-luxury cars in the United States leaving behind competitors such as the Maybach and BMW’s Rolls-Royce.
“Bentley’s hopes are lying in the fact with the Arnage redesign will make it a stronger competitor for Rolls-Royce. Bentley’s has plans for their whole lineup. They have enough to keep them busy into 2010.
The Continental GT just got a facelift for 2008 with an addition of the new Continental GT Speed, the fastest Bentley ever. Bentley says that the W12 engine that produces 600 horsepower is capable of giving the GT Speed the ability to top 200 mph with a 0-62 time of 4.3 seconds.
The four-door Flying Spur sedan will get a facelift in 2009.
The GTC with only one year under its belt, no significant changes are in the works.
The Bentley Brookland a four-seat coupe based on the Arnage is probably the most expensive car in Bentley’s lineup. With a starting price of $340,990 the Bentley Brooklands is powered by a 6.75 liter V8 engine that is capable of producing 530 horsepower. The Bentley Brooklands will go on sale in the first half of 2008 with production limited to 550 cars.
The Bentley Arnage will get a total redesign for 2010. U.S. sales are likely to begin in 2011.
The Azure a convertible version of the Bentley Arnage just went on sale last year. No major changes are expected.
As Bentley keeps their plans going with their fleet’s future my plans are still to use DFW Elite Car Club as my ultra-luxury car connection. There I have the freedom to test drive the Bentley GTC and the competitor a Rolls Royce. Oh! the freedom of choice and so many to choose from.
