NASCAR fans were not happy this past weekend as they saw the Auto Club 500 delayed at the start for over two hours. Even when the event finally started, only eighty-seven of the scheduled two hundred and fifty laps were completed.
At fault were heavy rains.Â
At first, officials believed that they had sufficiently dried the track and the Auto Club 500 was restarted. However, it soon became obvious that water was seeping onto the track through its seams. After separate crashes involving Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Denny Hamlin, race officials decided they had seen enough.Â
The remaining laps of the Auto Club 500 will run at 10:00 am (PST) on Monday February 25. Jimmie Johnson, the leader at the time of the postponement, will reclaim his lead when the race resumes.Â
The Auto Club 500 is sponsored by the AAA Auto Club, a club for automobile owners that provides them with various driving services, extended warranties, and travel-related discounts. Over the years, several different types of car clubs have developed. The most widely known are the clubs like Auto Club and AAA.Â

However, there is a completely different type of car club just for exotic car fans.
Exotic car clubs are for people who love driving exotic cars but don’t want to incur the high costs of purchasing and maintaining them. DFW Elite Car Club (www.dfwelitecarclub.com) in Texas is an example of just such a car sharing club. The Dallas car club provides members with the keys to a dream garage of the latest exotic cars from Ferrari and Lamborghini, classics from Mercedes and Rolls-Royce, and specialty vehicles such as SUVs. The car sharing club even has an armored SUV for VIP transport or occasions when extra security is called for.

Car club members pay a flat monthly fee and never have to worry about depreciation, maintenance, or any of the other hassles. “It’s absolutely a blast,†says Audio Engineer and longtime DW Elite Car Club member Derek Chase. “I checked out one of the club’s three Lamborghinis for a day, and I’m am looking forward to driving the new 600 HP Viper when it arrives,†says Mr. Chase.
