Just hours after spy photographers spotted a prototype of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro on the back of a transport truck, GM chairman Bob Lutz sent down the word that pre-production Camaros will no longer wear any camouflage.
The news was revealed by Chevrolet head Ed Peper on GM’s FastLane blog. Apparently, the camouflage was interfering with the Camaro’s aerodynamics and cooling.
Along with the statement, GM released the first “official” image of the Camaro, albeit in pre-production form. GM released a larger version of the same image today, which reveals a bit more detail — including faux vents just in front of the rear wheels and a rear diffuser.
Peper also said that Camaro prototypes will continue testing in Australia and in the U.S., “so keep those camera phones ready.”
