Surprise, surprise. Ahead of Nissan’s scheduled October 24th unveiling of the long-awaited GT-R at the Tokyo auto show, someone couldn’t help themselves and spilled the beans.
Not many beans, but the ones that fell were nice and fat indeed. Photo beans; and we’ve got ’em. See the gallery for an early look at the official Nissan pics of the fabled sports car.
Although photos are out, technical details are still at large. What is known is that the all-wheel-drive Japanese rocket will have a twin-turbocharged V-6 with over 400 hp. Rumors stating 450 have been flying around, but with spies having captured shots of GT-R prototypes running the Nürburgring in the fast company of a Porsche 911 Turbo, we’re guessing something a little higher might be closer to the mark.
Expect performance numbers in the same arena as a Corvette Z06: 0–60 mph in the mid-threes, quarter in the high 11s, top speed nearing 200 mph. Expect pricing somewhat higher than the Z06. Expect thrills on par or better. Expect more information soon.
