2009 Corvette ZR1: Chevy’s First Supercar

When you think 620 horsepower and a curb weight of 3,350 pounds, what cars come to mind? Ferrari? Lamborghini? Try Chevrolet. Sporting a hand-built, supercharged 6.2-liter V8, electro-magnetic suspension components and carbon-ceramic brake discs, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 promises to deliver a top speed of 200 mph and cornering force of 1 g. Design distinctions include a raised carbon-fiber hood with a clear polycarbonate window revealing the Corvette “crossed flags” logo on the engine. Chevrolet will begin producing the ZR1 in 2008 and is expected to price it around $100,000.
