2008 Mercedes SLK: Formula-1 Changes in the Appearance

 

Mercedes has showed the restyled SLK 2008The restyled 2-seat compact SLK will be available in April 2008. The official premiere of the car will take place in Detroit.

There are no global changes in the novelty. The car has a slightly restyled front end with Formula-1 optics, a small rear spoiler with a run-out, darkened rear lights, LED-blinkers in the rear view mirrors, the new trapeziform exhaust system pipes, modernized interior and 3.6-liter V6. The company is also planning to release the top variant of SLK and make market predictions for the following 2-3 years.

The top SLK variant is equipped with a modernized engine with 305 hp (the previous version – 272 hp). Moreover, the torque has been increased from 350 Nm to 360 Nm. Power train is carried out through a 6-grade mechanic (the basic variant) or 7-grade automatic with steering-wheel buttons (comes as an option). Fuel consumption has been made considerably lower and now it makes 9.5 liter per 100 km (for the mechanic transmission) and 9.2 liters (for the automatic). Fuel consumption of the previous generation was around 10.6 liters per 100 km.

The variant SLK 200 has been changed as well. Now it has 184 hp and 250 Nm of torque (instead of the previous 163 hp). The average fuel consumption – 7.7 liters per 100 km (the previous – 8.8-9 liters per 100 km).

The prices for the restyled Mercedes SLK in Germany will be the following:

  • SLK 200 – from 36 503 euro
  • SLK 280 – from 41 858 euro
  • SLK 350 – from 46 975 euro
  • SLK 55 AMG – from 69 049 euro
